Sometimes, bigger is better. When your stomach feels like a bottomless pit, a normal amount of food simply won’t do. However many times you scan a menu, it can still seem that nothing on offer can possibly leave you satisfied.

Fortunately, there is still hope. Some restaurants are all too aware that there are certain customers who expect nothing less than massive amounts of food. These kitchens have created some of the most enormous meals ever known to man. They may be ridiculously unhealthy and even ill-advised, but that doesn’t make them any less amazing.

5. Dickey’s Barbecue - Pit 3 Meat Pit

A barbecue is the perfect excuse to indulge, unchecked. Anyone who has skulked around as family members grill endless meat knows that there can be no limit to your greed, if that’s what you’re in to. This seems to be the principle behind Dickey’s Barbecue Pit 3 Meat Pit special. Featuring sausage, ribs, brisket, fried onion and mac and cheese, the meal comes complete with a pitcher of sweet tea and a portion of ice cream.

4. Red Lobster - Create Your Own Combo

Whenever you let a greedy foodie “create their own”, you’re walking a tightrope. At Red Lobster, this tightrope can become weighed down with calories very quickly. With the potential to combine fried shrimp, cream sauce, Caesar salad, french fried, cheddar biscuits and a margarita all in the same meal, the Create Your Own Combo can quickly become a 4,000 calorie explosion of awesome.

3. Heart Attack Grill - Quadruple Bypass

The infamous Heart Attack Grill has a well-earned reputation as one of the least healthy restaurants on earth. Serving up meals that would make Man vs Food quiver, this Vegas institution’s piece de resistance is the legendary Quadruple Bypass Burger meal. Four beef patties, piled high with cheese, tomatoes and onions are served alongside lard-fried flatliner fries in a 10,000 calorie coronary on a plate.

2. Various - Munchies Box

As anyone who’s ever stumbled in from a night out can vouch: nothing whets the appetite like an evening of booze. Many nations have come up with a culinary answer to drunken cravings, but none have mastered it quite like Scotland. The munchies box is an astonishing achievement. Though contents can vary according to the cook, a typical box contains pizza, french fries, chicken bits, pakoras, sauce, salad and donner meat. Whether eaten with friend or as a solo mission, this meal is massive enough to satisfy anyone.

1. Unknown - Unknown

Of course, no matter what monsters restaurants may create, there will always be someone cocky enough to claim they’ve eaten something bigger. In an endless game of foodie one-upmanship, there will never be any end to the argument over the biggest meal on earth. Or will there? According to the Guinness Book of World Records and The Lancet medical journal, the biggest meal ever was eaten by a 23-year-old woman in 1985. According to contemporary sources, the woman ate one pound of liver, two pounds of kidneys, eight ounces of steak, two eggs, one pound of cheese, two large slices of bread, one pound of mushrooms, two pounds of carrots, one cauliflower, 10 peaches, four pears, two apples, four bananas, two pounds of plums, two pounds of grapes, and two glasses of milk, all in one sitting. Though she died soon after, the record still stands to this day.
