Nothing says end-of-summer/start-of-autumn like a good ol’ dessert and ice cream mash-up. Even if you’re feeling depressed about the end of long, hot days and the inevitable onset of drizzly grey skies, it’s impossible not to get a little excited about finally having an excuse to eat pie again.
Finding a dessert that’s going to strike the balance between sultry September weather and gently turning leaves can be tricky. Fortunately for pudding lovers, the world’s most beloved ice cream brand has a seriously delicious solution.
After making a series of all-too-brief appearances since 2007, Ben & Jerry’s is finally reintroducing its wildly popular Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream to the public. Set to go on sale at all major retailers - including Walmart and Target - the flavour will be a ray of sunshine for fans who might otherwise have been understandably upset about the start of Fall.
According to the official product description on Walmart’s website:
“...we get straight to pumpkin wonderful by whirling up real pumpkin with our deliciously creamy cheesecake homemade ice cream, swirled through with a generous vein of graham crackers that might make you a bit reminiscent for s'mores season.”

When pressed on why the creamy pumpkin flavour remains so popular, Ben & Jerry’s “Flavor Guru” and Pumpkin Cheesecake developer Eric Fredette explained:
“The Pumpkin Cheesecake flavor is a perfect comfort food. It’s like a warm blanket on a cool autumn day, with falling leaves and the crisp smell of fall.”
It’s small wonder, then, the product continues to receive stellar reviews from loyal devotees. As one satisfied customer put it on the Walmart website:
“I've been buying this ice cream for a few years now. I check the supermarket freezers even in the off season. It's the best ice cream I've ever had. My props to Ben and Jerry for this creation!”
Maybe autumn isn’t so bad after all.
