Deep Fried Calzones

What you need


  • 500g pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 3 torn mozzarella balls
  • Chopped pepperoni
  • Handful torn basil
  • 2L groundnut oil


  1. Heat oil for 170°C/340°F.
  2. Roll out small, palm sized balls of dough to roughly 1/4 cm thickness.
  3. Coat one half with pizza sauce and top with torn mozzarella, basil and pepperoni. Fold the other half over and seal with a fork.
  4. Fry for roughly 3 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
