Cheeseburger Taquitos

  • Time: 20 - 30 minutes

What you need

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 lb beef mince
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/1 tsp garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 cups mixed cheese
  • 8 tortillas
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Of the many ingenious things that Mexico has done with the tortilla, taquitos might be the most versatile.  You could stuff pretty much into these little, crispy, cigar shaped rolls of joy. We've opted for cheeseburgers, because we are Twisted after all.

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven 360°F/180°C.
  2. Fry the beef mince with the onion until soft and cooked through. Add the salt, pepper, garlic powder and ketchup. Cook a little longer until the mixture becomes sticky. Pour into a bowl and chill, then stir through the cheese and set aside.
  3. Take a tortilla and paint a half moon of egg wash around one edge. Place a line of the cheesy meat mixture on the other side then roll the whole thing into a little sausage, using the egg washed bit to stick it together.
  4. Line them all up on a lined baking sheet and bake for around 20 - 30 minutes until crispy and golden.
