Heinz Beanz Pulled Pork

What you need

Ingredients

  • 1kg Pork Shoulder, trimmed of most fat
  • salt, to taste
  • thyme, a few sprigs
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • BBQ spice rub, 2 tbsps
  • 400g tomato passata
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tins Heinz Beanz

Cook slow, eat quick. This recipe for pulled pork with Heinz Beanz is the perfect centrepiece for any summer barbecue. Serve with crusty bread or by itself - the choice is up to you. All that matters is that you serve it.

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C.
  2. Heat your oil in a large casserole. Season your pork well with salt and brown over medium-high heat on all sides. Remove pork and add the onion to the pot. Cook until translucent then add the garlic. Fry for 20 seconds or so, then add the spices, passata, sugar, mustard, thyme and salt. Return the pork and cover with a lid. Place in the oven for 3 hours, basting and turning the pork a couple of times during the process.
  3. Remove the casserole from the oven and remove the lid. Shred the pork roughly with two forks- don't shred too much! To this, add two tins of Heinz Beanz. Stir to combine, then return to the oven for 30 minutes (without lid).
  4. Serve!
