In a necessary but nonetheless devastating move, McDonald's has been forced to close because of the coronavirus pandemic.

And while most of us are anticipating the day we can stride into the Golden Arches for our favourites, the fast-food giant has given us a helping hand during this difficult time by releasing its sausage and egg McMuffin recipe.

This means that we can finally make near enough the real thing from the comfort of our own homes. Who said you can't have a perfect quarantine breakfast?

In the video below, kids taste test the vegetarian Happy Meal, which was released last year:

In a handy guide, McDonald's revealed exactly what goes into its egg McMuffin, and the brilliant thing about this recipe is that you're more than likely to have these ingredients already in your home.

But don't worry if you don't. You can always improvise by skipping one item and doubling up on another.

McDonald's released this tribute to the McMuffin on its Instagram page back in February.

So what exactly do you need? I hear you ask. Just five everyday ingredients: English muffins, sausage meat, eggs, American cheese slices, and potato.

Once you've gathered up what you need, simply follow the guide below. Oh, and if you're feeling extra peckish, there's even a recipe for the McDonald's hash brown too!

English muffin - Simply toast this until it's a perfect golden brown.

75g sausage meat - For this, you will want to season your meat with a pinch of salt and pepper. Aftward, shape it into balls before flattening it into patty shapes. Then cook it under a pre-heated grill for six to seven minutes on each side.

Eggs - Cover the inside of a metal ring with a little cooking oil and place it into a small frying pan. Then add enough water to cover the base before boiling it. Crack your eggs into the rings, cover the pan and cook for between two and three minutes.

American Cheese Slice - This one is a no brainer. Simply assemble your McMuffin by putting the egg and patty on top before adding a slice of cheese!

Potato - Grate a potato into a bowl to make a hashbrown. Add in an egg before mixing it with salt and pepper to season. Then heat a glug of oil in a pan before adding a spoonful of the mix. Flatten and cook until it's golden brown on both sides.

And voilà! You will have your own perfect sausage and egg McMuffin to see you through isolation!
