Coffee and baking are one of the iconic kitchen combos. Like bread and butter, or bacon and basically anything, both bits are delicious by themselves, but becomes exponentially better when brought together. Whether you’re massively hungover or just half asleep, there isn’t a morning routine that can’t be improved by a cappuccino and a cookie.

Unsurprisingly, it’s not just snoozy commuters who have figured this out. Dozens of different companies have come up with creative ways to flog us sweet treats and caffeine, leaving us little excuse to not turn up to the office looking perky. Understandably, most coffee lovers have their own individual preference. However, it now looks like cookie specialists Nestle Toll House have come up with a way to get every coffee and baking fan singing from the same hymn sheet.

New for 2019, the famous bakery group have unveiled a product perfect for anyone who wishes that their cookies packed more of a punch. Available at Walmart and online, Nestle’s new Espresso Morsels look at first glance just like regular chocolate chips. However, each individual has been made with real coffee, meaning that a mouthful will work just like a regular cup of Joe.

According to the official product description, Espresso Morsels “are made with REAL coffee, adding a rich, indulgent flavor to any baked treat.” Nestle Toll House also emphasise that they “use ingredients you can trust, that have no artificial flavors or colors, no preservatives,” before suggesting that customers “enjoy 1 cookie with a cup or nonfat milk for a snack.”

Clearly, given the prevalence of chocolate chips in most of the world’s favourite bakes, there are literally hundreds of ways that a bag of espresso morsels could be put to good use. However, it looks like, for the time being, eager customers will have to be patient. According to the Walmart website, the nine ounce bags are temporarily sold out - unsurprising, given that they will set you back less than $3. However, even if you have to wait before getting your hands on a bag, it looks like it will be well worth it for cookie and coffee fans.
