Hooters is giving free wings to customers who shred pictures of their ex this Valentine’s Day

Chicken wings aren’t necessarily the first thing that comes to mind when you imagine a romantic dinner.

However, thanks to a cathartic Valentine’s Day initiative, 2021 may well be the year when we sack of strawberries and chocolate and instead concentrate on buffalo sauce and crispy poultry on February 14th.

Courtesy of wing-giants Hooters, customers can now get free chicken wings if they shred pictures of their ex on Valentine’s Day. If you want to take your mind off heartbreak, it’s heart to think of a more effective method.

Hooters Valentine’s Day free wings

In an exclusive offer for February 14th, the wing mega-franchise is pledging to provide free wings to anyone who’s prepared to virtually shred a photo of their ex.

On a specially created Hooters website, customers can digitally upload a photo, before deciding to shred, burn, bury or dart the image. It certainly treads a fine line between therapy and violence.

Hooters also provide a quiz to help you determine the most effective method of destruction. Questions range from the length of the relationship to the relative drama of the break up itself.

Based on your answers, the website will suggest which of the four methods will be most helpful. However, customers are free to choose another if they wish.

By way of an explanation on the site, Hooters explain:

“You need your ex’s photo like you need a kidney stone. Get rid of it now by answering a few quick questions. We’ll help you choose the most satisfying method of disposal, so the healing can begin.”

When it comes to making a statement about your ex, Hooters clearly aren’t playing.

Do Hooters always give free wings on Valentine’s Day?

Although this particular promotion has certainly become more elaborate, this isn’t the first time Hooters have offered free wings.

The brand have a history of running similar promotions on and around February 14th, and did so last year with great effect.

However, although free Hooters on Valentine’s Day is a long-standing tradition, there are caveats. As explained on the Hooters website, the free wings are only available with the purchase of 10 other wings.

In addition, the offer is available for dine-in only, which may put people off during the pandemic. On the other hand, if you were looking for an excuse to shred an old photo, then look no further.
