Krispy Kreme will give you free doughnuts for a year if you've had your COVID vaccine

Krispy Kreme is now offering free doughnuts to people who've had their COVID vaccines – as if any extra motivation was necessary.

The new offer allows anyone with a valid vaccination card to pick up a free doughnut at participating locations. It looks like things really are looking up for 2021 – so long as you like pastry and inoculations.

Free Krispy Kreme doughnuts after vaccination

Taking place across the United States, the new promotion will try to aid the rollout of vaccinations across the US. As the brand's website explains:

"Krispy Kreme is finding ways to be sweet as the U.S. continues to scale COVID-19 vaccinations.

"To show our support for those who choose to get vaccinated, starting Monday, 3/22, anyone who shows their COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card will receive a free Original Glazed doughnut."

Customers must be able to prove that they have had at least one of the two shots required of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Alternatively, they can have received a single shot of the one-dose Johnson & Johnson alternative.

In order to prove that they have been vaccinated, customers must present a valid vaccination card. There is also a limit of one doughnut per day per customer.

Still, if you meet all the requirements, there's no doubt that the Krispy Kreme news is seriously exciting for American doughnut lovers.

'We all want to get COVID-19 behind us as fast as possible'

The decision to wade into the occasionally charged vaccine policy debate may seem strange for a fast food brand. However, Krispy Kreme has been unequivocal in its stance on supporting those who want to get the COVID vaccine.

In a press release discussing the brand's new promotion, Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena said: “We all want to get COVID-19 behind us as fast as possible and we want to support everyone doing their part to make the country safe by getting vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is available to them.”

To this end, the company is offering four hours of paid time off to its employees. According to the press release, this time is "to help encourage and enable their COVID-19 vaccinations". The hope is that this policy will ultimately "further(ing) the safety of team members and guests".

Despite the potential implications, it's clear that Krispy Kreme isn't going to take a back seat in the vaccination effort.
