After 21 years, fans are understandably over the moon that Wendy's is returning to the UK.
The famous franchise inexplicably failed to make it big in Britain – despite its reputation for fresh beef and enormous burgers. Thankfully, they're giving the country a chance to correct our collective mistake.
Before the new launch, we take an exclusive sneak peek inside the restaurant, giving fans a taste of what's coming.
If the pictures are anything to go by, it will be well worth the wait.
Wendy's new UK restaurant
The new Wendy's UK restaurant design marks quite a dramatic departure from the restaurant's Stateside look.
The interior is sleek and polished, featuring cool black brickwork and wooden benches. The branding is relatively subtle, with a "W" forming the support for the tables.
In an exclusive statement about the new-look interior, Steven Derwoed, Vice President of Global Design and Construction for Wendy’s, tells Twisted:
"We’re very proud of our restaurant design in Reading, and I’m confident that we’ve built a place that our customers will love to go and our employees will love to work. The interior has a cool vibe with a focus on natural wood, dark contrasts, comfortable seating and fun art, making it feel fresh and current.
"Creating a frictionless and convenient experience for our customers is at the heart of our design, whether a customer places their order via mobile before they set foot in the restaurant, at a kiosk once they arrive or at a traditional front counter with one of our friendly team members.
"We’ve even incorporated an exterior walk-up window to create speedy access for delivery providers so customers can get their Wendy’s food even faster. We look forward to serving customers soon!”
We can't wait to see it for real.
Wendy's UK menu
In addition to the exclusive look at the restaurant's interior, Wendy's has also revealed what fans can expect to see on the menu.
Some of the highlights include the classic Dave's Single cheeseburger, as well as the chain's original Spicy Chicken Sandwich.
In addition, customers will be able to enjoy a Chocolate Frosty dessert, as well as a chicken avocado salad for a healthier option.
We'll have to wait and see whether the restaurant stacks up to the American original. For now, we can just be seriously excited about what's c0ming.
