Winning free KFC at any time is cause for celebration. Getting it alongside a bag of delicious fried chicken-flavoured crisps sounds like it should be too good to be true.
However, in a year where everything has continued to be unremittingly miserable, this dream is now a reality. Thanks to a collaboration between the Colonel and Walkers, your next snack could net you complimentary original recipe.
Winner winner, free chicken dinner.
How to get free KFC
The new offer has come about thanks primarily to the latest innovation from the Walkers test kitchen. New for 2021, customers can now get hold of two new flavours of exciting Walkers Max potato chips.
The new options come in both original Kentucky Fried Chicken and Zinger flavours and will be available until July. Both flavours are also completely vegetarian.
However, it's once you start adding actual KFC chicken into the mix that things get really exciting. For the duration of the promotion, allows you to claim "2 for 1" on KFC meals for one, which makes for a big saving on your next fried chicken binge.
To the uninitiated, it may not be immediately obvious how you might turn crisps into chicken. Helpfully, the Walkers website contains a step-by-step guide to getting hold of your food. As the brand explains:
"Step 1: Purchase a promotional pack of Walkers MAX x KFC crisps.
"Step 2: Take your pack to a participating KFC restaurant (hopefully empty!).
"Step 3: Hand over your pack to a team member at the till or drive-through and redeem your 2 for 1 meal #winning."
Although Walkers stress that you "will not be able to redeem your 2 for 1 via Mobile Ordering or on Delivery", it certainly seems like it's a good time to be a fried chicken fan.
Vegan KFC makes a comeback
The collaboration Walkers isn't the only exciting recent news to come out of KFC.
In an exclusive interview with Twisted, the fried chicken specialists revealed that their wildly popular vegan KFC burger will be available at restaurants until at least the end of February.
To make matters even more exciting, the brand also added that plans for vegan fries are on the horizon.
Obviously, present circumstances are far from ideal for the restaurant. Nonetheless, it's extremely exciting to see a major fast food player experiment with some exciting additions - be they crisps, or plant-based chicken.
