Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Unless you’re in the hands of a skilled bartender, blending a bottle of wine with the cocktail menu is generally pretty inadvisable. Anyone who’s started a night casually sipping Chardonnay, before drowning themselves in a fishbowl of Woohoo, gyrating feverishly to David Guetta, knows that there are many more sensible ways to spend an evening.

However, just because experience has taught you that mixing wine and cocktails rarely goes well, it doesn’t mean that the results can’t be delicious. Case in point, the newest release from the world’s favourite wallet-friendly supermarket, showcasing just what’s possible if you put the memory of terrible hangovers and dodgy dancing to one side.

To celebrate the start of summer, Aldi has started stocking a new range of Rancho La Gloria Wine Cocktails. The drinks are made from a mixture of margarita base and agave wine, a drink made from the same plant as tequila, and are currently available for just $12.99. If you’re looking for a way to enjoy lockdown more irresponsibly, this may be the perfect solution.

Why not try our Jalapeño Margarita Party Pitcher with Guacamole and McCoy’s Muchos:

According to the website, the margarita wines appear to be available in three different flavours, ranging from a traditional “margarita” style to both mango and strawberry flavours. As the product description of the original cocktail states:

“Our flagship Margarita puts subtle twist on this classic cocktail. The smooth agave wine sets a perfect base for aromas of lime and lemon-curd meringue with a smooth sorbet finish of candied-orange peel. Made with 100% blue weber agave and real lime juice. Simply pour over ice and enjoy!”

Reasons to celebrate might be relatively few and far between at the moment, but at least we now have the perfect party starter, as soon as the moment comes.
