Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Blending chocolate bars into milkshakes is a time honoured tradition for every self respecting junk food business. The biggest brands know all too well that the only thing better than scoffing thousands of salty, fatty, meaty calories is following them up with something ice-cold, creamy and sweet. Though there are plenty of candidates for the chocolate component of this classic fast food formula, one chain may well have just unleashed the most delicious.

New for 2019, the flame-grilled sandwich specialists at Burger King have unveiled their latest addition to the milkshake menu in the form of the Twix shake. According to the company’s official website, the item consists of “Velvety Vanilla Soft Serve, delicious TWIX® Pieces and vanilla syrup…blended to perfection and finished with a sweet whipped topping.” It certainly sounds like it ticks all the boxes.

Like any proper dessert, the new Twix shake certainly doesn’t skimp on the good stuff. The drink contains 780 calories, 23 grams of fat and 15 grams of saturated fat, making it the most calorific item currently on the “Sweets” section of the restaurant’s website. However, what it lacks in health consciousness, it more than makes up for in flavour.

To Burger King, it seems that Twix-themed desserts are a lot like buses. After waiting for ages for the biscuit and caramel bar to appear on menus, fans are now confronted with the prospect of two variations at once. Not only do they have the shake, but customers can also get their hands on a Twix “Pie”, which is described as a pud “made with TWIX…a creamy caramel whipped filling topped with crumbled pieces of TWIX Bars, all resting on a vanilla crumb crust.”

Though some sources have described the new menu items as “limited-time-only”, there is no official word on how long the promotion is likely to last. For the time being, however, dinner time looks set to be a whole lot more exciting. Provided you’re a fan of sticky, biscuit-heavy candy, it looks like Burger King have certainly got you covered this summer.
