Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Messing with the world’s most famous soft drink is always fraught with risk, but this year’s twist on classic Coca-Cola sounds like it could be a winner. After a successful trial period in the UK, it looks certain that American customers will soon be able to get their hands on cinnamon-flavoured Coca-Cola – news which has predictably sent the internet into meltdown.

The revelation – which has since been confirmed by multiple news outlets, including Fox News – was first broken by everyone’s favourite sweet-toothed Instagram account @CandyHunting, who shared a photo of the new cans above the caption, “Confirmed! Cinnamon Coca-Cola will be out this winter in the US!”

As an added tidbit for their followers, Candy Hunting also revealed that “Cola is a mix between citrus and brown spice flavors. Coca-Cola leans more toward the spice side and Pepsi leans more toward citrus. Adding extra cinnamon flavor will kick up that brown spice an extra notch.”

The news was soon corroborated elsewhere in the media. On Tuesday, Fox reported that Coca-Cola had confirmed to them that the product is scheduled to hit shelves on September 30th, meaning that the drop could coincide with the release of new limited edition winter spiced cranberry Sprite. Autumn could be a bumper season for unusual soft drinks.

While cinnamon Coca-Cola might be a novel concept for American consumers, customers have already had a taste across the Atlantic. Initially launched as a Coke Zero option in 2018 in the UK, the official press release shared at the time declared that “the new addition to the Coca-Cola family is bursting full of warming flavors and is guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit as we head into the Christmas season.” Whether the American version can continue to carry the torch remains to be seen.
