Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

When someone talks about their dream job, they’re usually being hyperbolic. Even the coolest jobs on paper come with their dose of admin tedium, shitty bosses and miserable commutes. However, every so often, an opening appears that reminds everyone that, no matter how horrible professional life has become, there are still careers out there that can get even the most cynical jobsworth excited.

To a 12-year-old, the idea of Domino’s headquarters might sound like the Willy Wonka factory of pizza. Experienced adults might think they know better. But, as an advert posted by the business’ HQ in Queensland, Australia proves, there are still companies out there who are prepared to put fun ahead of finance. Sometimes.

In a job post promoted on professional networking site Linkedin, the company requested applications for an official “Chief Garlic Bread Taste Tester”. The offer, which is for a temporary position, states:

“You butter believe it! We’re looking for someone a little bit crunchy, but mostly warm and soft on the inside, to help taste test our World-Famous Garlic Breads at Domino’s Headquarters in Brisbane.”

In meticulous detail, Domino’s state precisely what they are looking for, revealing that the idea candidate should have, “Never met a carb they didn’t like; Does not identify as a vampire; Understands the perfect ‘crunch to softness’ ratio; Is passionate about food, innovation and having fun.”

In terms of experience, candidates will be expected to have:

“(A) Minimum of 5 years’ experience in garlic bread consumption; a detailed understanding of the pizza and garlic bread relationship; working taste buds; burned their fingers at least once not being able to wait for the garlic bread to cool down; a history of reviewing other people’s food choices (solicited and/or unsolicited).”

In order to apply, applicants must:

“Complete the survey and tell us in 200 words OR in a 30 second video why you are the perfect candidate for the job. Get creative! But no loafing around – applications close Monday 7 October 2019, so be quick!”

Even if the working ground has ground you down, you should be buoyed by the knowledge that, one day, you too could be paid for the privilege of pigging out on garlic bread.
