Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Breakfast might be the most important meal of the day, but that doesn’t make bleary-eyed, early morning cooking any less of a chore. If anything, the knowledge that eating some semi-comatose scrambled eggs is so essential probably makes it seem like an even bigger pain than it actually is. If only there was a way to make the whole thing feel less laborious.

Thankfully for workshy breakfast lovers everywhere, one cunning home cook appears to have come up with a solution. According to a recipe posted to the popular Crockpot/Slow Cooker Recipes & Tips Facebook group, the answer to an easy morning is to get everything ready the night before in a delicious slow-cooked omelette.

As per the instructions shared by group member Rachael Emily Pollard, the dish is every bit as uncomplicated as an ordinary omelette, with the added benefit of keeping the kitchen tidy pre-commute. As she explained in a comment underneath a photo of the end result:

“I beat 6eggs a tiny bit of butter little bit of mil(k), salt, pepper, chopped up bacon n onion. On low from 10 lastnight, then the morning I put chesse on top on high for ten mins.”

Other group members seemed suitably impressed with the result. One declared, “I will have to try it sounds lovely,” while another went into even more detail, adding:

“What a fantastic idea. I’m definitely going to do this for the family. Does it taste slightly rubbery? What is the texture like? I’m so excited to make this tonight for my breakfast that sound a bit backward or am I going forward.”

Anyone familiar with the inner workings of slow cooker internet fandom will know that this overnight omelette idea isn’t the only time that the community has tried to make breakfast more efficient. One recipe even suggests an overnight slow-cooked full English breakfast, though the results are a mixed bag, to say the least. Nonetheless, it’s obvious that where there’s a will for easy breakfasts, there’s always a way.
