Fathers’ Day is an unusual holiday. While an impromptu gift shower is always welcome, striking the balance between overly generous and mean can be a tricky business. When faced with such a dilemma, we find that’s generally best to skip over clothes, books and other bric-a-brac and go straight for food.
If the fastest way to a man’s heart really is through his stomach, then Iceland’s new burger is going to break some sort of sound barrier. Packed with more beef than a Texas cattle auction and built like a fleshy bowling ball, the ‘Big Daddy’ cheeseburger provides definitive proof that, when it comes to grub, size really does matter.
Looking like a rejected extra from a long lost episode of Man v. Food, the burger is, in every sense, a beast. Weighing in at a whopping one pound, the sandwich is made from two stitched together half-pound patties, stuffed with an oozy filling of melted cheese. Designed to be paired with Warburtons Large Sliced Rolls, as per the product description, this is one sandwich that isn’t pulling any punches.
Why not have a go at our Giant Jalapeño Popper Chicken Burger:
While the enormous £3 burger might be stealing the headlines, it’s far from the only enormous meat dish on the menu this Fathers’ Day. The supermarket chain is also stocking a selection of Big Daddy steaks, including a 16 oz. rump and 12 oz. sirloin. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, there’s always the option of adding everything to one mighty mega sandwich.

Even if the thought of several kilos of beef makes your chest contract and your blood run cold, it’s worth remembering that we all need an occasional treat. As David Lennox, Iceland’s head chef, explained in a press release:
“Iceland’s Big Daddy range really is an indulgent treat for Father’s Day – it’s a once-a-year opportunity to treat dads and it calls for a seriously big burger or steak to match the occasion.”
Once you approach it with that attitude, it starts looking like too good of an opportunity to ignore.
