KFC have made a fire log that makes your fire smell like fried chicken

Fried chicken might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Christmas. When you’re snuggled around the fireplace with a mince pie and a mountain of prezzies, the last thing most people want is a bucket of something oily and breaded. That hasn’t stopped one of the godfathers of fast food from coming up with the Christmas accessory that you never knew you needed.
New for 2018, the mad marketing team at KFC have decided that the best way bring their signature chicken to the forefront of the festive agenda is not with food, but with fire. Teaming up with eco-friendly fire-starters Enviro Log, the junk food giants have created a very special fire log. Thanks to a clever combination of chemicals and ingredients, your home could smell not of slowly smouldering pine, but instead of the world’s most famous combination of 11 herbs and spices. Fireplaces just got delicious.
According to a press release, the new chickeny fuel is the “only yule log imbued with the unmistakable, mouth-watering aroma of Colonel Sanders’ secret recipe.” The stated aim of the product is, unsurprisingly, to “make a fire smell less like fire and more like fried chicken.” Made from 100% recycled materials, designed with long term storage capabilities and capable of burning for around three hours at a time, it looks like KFC may be about to revolutionise fire as much as they have chicken cooking.
It’s obvious that the bosses at KFC have high hopes for their latest trinket. In a statement to the media, Andrea Zahumensky, CMO of KFC U.S., said, “At KFC, we have always been proud of our role in bringing loved ones together at the dinner table around a bucket of our world-famous fried chicken. Now, this winter we’re bringing all the things we love — family, friends and fried chicken — together around the fire.”
This is hardly the first time that KFC have strayed into novelty Christmas territory. In 2016, the restaurant released a fried chicken candle – available exclusively in New Zealand to anyone who wanted to burn a greasy, brown waxy cylinder. Last year, they took things even further by releasing a limited edition bath bomb, ideal for those who were keen to cut out the middleman entirely, and just resort to slathering themselves in chicken water.
As exciting as the new release undoubtedly is, there is a downside to the story. Unfortunately, thanks to the overwhelming number of people who are desperate for their house to smell like the inside of a chicken kitchen, the first round of chicken logs sold out in a matter of hours. As a result, anyone else who fancies a deep fried fire this winter is going to have to wait and hope that they begin work on a new batch ASAP. For now, it looks unlikely any more will be released. Fans of fried chicken-themed curiosities will probably just have to be patient and wait for next year. At least they now know that, whatever the restaurant comes up with in the future, they will have to be quick to get their hands on it.
