Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Watch out, Statue of Liberty! In 2020, an incredible new tourist attraction will debut and threaten to take all of “your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” I’m referring of course, to Krispy Kreme’s plans to open a massive 24/7 store in New York City. (It’s going to be hard to breathe free with a mouth full of doughnuts!)

On Monday, the North Carolina-based doughnut chain announced that the 4,500-square-foot store will be located in Times Square. And you read that last paragraph correctly, it will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So, if you live in The Big Apple and rely on the sugary confections as a comfort food, say goodbye to your feet! Your jolly Homer Simpson-esque belly will soon block their view forever.

In addition to delicious treats, this Krispy Kreme Mecca will reportedly feature the world’s largest “Hot Light” and “stadium-style seating” to observe the doughnut-making process. Spectators will see the bakers mix ingredients and follow the crispy fried rings of dough as they pass under the glaze waterfall. (And hopefully there’s a safety barrier in place, because the urge to jump into the glaze waterfall and gluttonously guzzle the goo will be overwhelming.)

The shiny doughnut citadel will also take advantage of its prime location to sell NYC merch and Krispy Kreme sawg such as T-shirts, hats and coffee mugs. “Our direction is to be the most loved sweet treat brand in the world,” Krispy Kreme CEO Michael Tattersfield said in a statement. “In the most iconic city in the world, the Krispy Kreme Times Square Flagship will showcase our brand on the global stage and inspire customer wonder.”

The Krispy Kreme flagship store opens at 1601 Broadway (48th Street and Broadway) sometime in early 2020, just in time to break your New Year’s resolution to lose weight. But you will regret nothing!
