Aldi is looking for a US couple to say ‘I do’ in its aisles

How much do you love bargain hunting? Are you and your partner regulars in your local Aldi?

Well, what if we told you that the supermarket is looking for a couple to get married in its aisles… are you that much of a fan?!

Perfect for anyone who might have had a meet-cute whilst doing the weekly shop, Aldi’s US HQ announced that it would like to host a couple’s wedding – and, get this, they’re willing to pay all expenses, too.

The wedding would have to be Aldi themed, and they’ll also throw in free groceries for an entire year for good measure.

If you want to be considered, you’ll have to be ready to tie the knot pretty soon (on Wednesday 9th November, to be exact), and the wedding will take place in Illionois’ Aldi Insights Centre, which will be turned into a wedding venue just for the occasion.

This is basically Aldi’s model store, just an hour outside of Chicago. So, expect food and drink surrounding you as you say ‘I do’.

Not only would you get a venue and a lot of free shopping, you’ll also get travel, accommodation, hair and makeup thrown in for good measure, as well as a personal photographer.

The wedding will be officiated by an employee at Aldi (who else?!), and the wedding reception will be filled with several supermarket-themed goodies, including an Aldi-themed wedding favour for each guest, an Aldi photoshoot, and a branded tiered wedding cake.

You’ll be able to invite 50 guests to your big day, who will all be able to share in the supermarket-themed fun along with you.

“ALDI fans show us their love every day, and we think getting married in our aisles will be a dream come true for many of them, so we can’t wait to give one lucky couple an amazing start to their future life together and share in their love story,” said Kate Kirkpatrick, Aldi USA’s director of communications.

“This will be the first wedding ALDI ever hosts, but hopefully not the last!”

Unfortunately for all our fellow British readers, the competition is only open to those in the States.

To apply, couples must have been engaged for at least a month. All you have to do is visit the “Happily Ever ALDI” contest page and write a 500 word essay about why you deserve the wedding.

You have until 17th August to make your bid – but we’d suggest being quick, as Aldi will only consider the first 500 entries.

The winning couple will be contacted at the end of August and their Aldi themed wedding will officially be a-go.
