This lipgloss tastes like chicken wings and we’re both disgusted and intrigued

Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

In today’s instalment of ‘food related products you never asked for, but someone invented anyway’, we’re venturing to US chain, Applebee’s, which has just released a tasty new makeup product.

We’ll be honest ‘tasty’ is really an objective word, here. In honour National Lipstick Day, Applebee’s has dropped a range of lipglosses in collaboration with makeup brand Winky Lux, and – drumroll please – they’re meant to taste exactly like chicken wings.

The invention is definitely a little out there… we mean, we love chicken wings as much as the next person, but have we ever wanted our lips to taste like them permanently…like, not just when we’re eating a greasy takeaway?

In all honesty, no.

Saying that, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t a little intrigued to try these lip glosses.

Let’s see if they float your boat, too…

The lipglosses are based around the flavours of the restaurant chain’s beloved chicken wing sauces, and come with names like Get Me Hot Buffalo, Sweet Chile Kiss and Be My Honey Pepper.

The hot buffalo sauce lippy comes in a creamy coral colour, and is said to taste exactly like the spicy cayenne buffalo flavour you’d expect on an American wing. Saucy.

Sweet Chile Kiss comes in a deep red, as you’d expect, and is said to have a kick of golden chilli. Meanwhile, Be My Honey Pepper is shimmery and golden honey spiced, for those who are sweet but a little fiery, too.

Honey BBQ-T is the last flavour on offer, and it’s said to be a sleek, smoky barbecue colour, with notes of sweetness and BBQ sauce flavour (obvs).

Rather bizarrely, Applebee’s has branded these lippies as a date night essential (however tasty they might be, we’re not sure we’d want to be snogging anybody after slathering this on our lips…)

“Applebee’s is known for first dates and wings—which are one of our most popular menu items,” said Applebee’s Chief Marketing Officer Joel Yashinsky on the new release.

“So, we partnered with the development team at Winky Lux to create these lip glosses inspired by four of our most popular wing sauces. Find your perfect shade and spice up your date night by adding a little bit of that Applebee’s flavour to make each kiss even more craveable with Saucy Gloss.”

You can buy the lipglosses for $18 (£14.91) each, and they’re only in the US – sorry British readers. If you’re feeling really into the idea of chicken wing flavoured lips, you can fork out $65 (£53.83) for the entire collection, on the Winky Lux website.
