Listen, we know it's only September and we don't mean to alarm you, but we've already been thinking about how we can make our Christmas sandwiches better than ever this year.

Any sarnie aficionado will tell you it's all about that saucy element, alongside the texture and the balance of filling.

And ASDA has just announced the arrival of a pretty promising condiment as part of this year's Christmas roster.

The supermarket has brought out a roast potato flavour mayo, which sounds like nothing short of a dream come true to us.

The only thing better could be putting actual roast potatoes in a sandwich... and hell, why not do that as well?

Shared on food blog, @NewFoodsUK, the mayo is infused with flavours of everyone's fave roast dinner side – the humble spud.

The mayo doesn't appear to be online, so we suggest heading to your local store to try and grab one.

When the food blog shared the news over on Facebook, it's fair to say there was some excitement in the comments.

"You know I’m going to buy this," said one person.

Meanwhile another suggested the mayo would "make a banging home made potato salad."

A third wasn't entirely convinced but still wanted to stock up.

"I may need to try this. Sounds disgusting but I do love a roast tattie," they wrote.

"I'm not sure how I feel about this," someone else chimed in.

Well, the only way to know for sure is to try 'em!

This isn't the only exciting mayo to hit shelves recently, as Heinz recently announced the release of a Monster Munch flavoured mayonnaise to align with Halloween.

"Monster Munch, with the iconic claw, was the perfect partner for mayo this Halloween, providing a scarily good twist on the classic," said Thiago Rapp, Director of Taste Elevation at Kraft Heinz.

Iceland is the first store to stock the product – it's available there now – then it'll roll out in nationwide in major supermarkets in October.

We can't wait to slather both of these in a sarnie.
