Asda is bringing back its whole vegan turkey for Christmas again this year – perfect for those who want a realistic 'meaty' alternative.

The supermarket won over its plant-based customers with a meat-free turkey in 2023, which promised to be a lean, breast meat alternative.

It's made from a mix of wheat, soya and pea proteins, and developed to have a texture the same as the Christmas bird, with a white 'flesh' as you cut into the crown.

Named OMV! Whole No Turkey, it also comes with darker “leg” meat and a a convincing chicken "skin," making a centrepiece that is bound to spark conversation.

Last year, the turkey cost £6, and while we don't yet have details about the price this year, we imagine it'll be in the same ballpark.

If that tickles your fancy, other products in the range include the OMV! Merrily Vegan Festive Slices.

These are puff pastry parcels stuffed with seasoned wheat and pea protein pieces, sage and onion stuffing, sweet dried cranberries and a delicious creamy sauce.

You can also pick up the OMV! Deliciously Vegan Mushroom Wellington, which is another popular meat-free Christmas main option, stuffed with a mushroom and caramelised onion filling.

For dessert, there are more fun options to explore. You can pick up with OMV! Deliciously Vegan Festive Choc Truffle Selection, which is basically a box of chocolate truffles which promises plant-based visitors don't have to miss out on the after dinner snacks.

OMV! Mince Pies are another plant-based must. They're – you guessed it – vegan mince pies made with shortcrust pastry and filled with your classic fruity, spiced mince.

The plant-based offerings are getting better every year across the UK supermarkets, but a whole vegan turkey is perhaps one of the most exciting options to hit shelves.

Would you try it?
