Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Scrambled eggs are a staple dish at breakfast (or lunch or dinner – nobody’s judging), but getting the simple recipe just perfect can be something of an art form.

From drying out the eggs to leaving them a soggy mess – or worse, burnt – there are many ways in which the humble scrambled egg can be done very, very wrong.

However, there’s a very simple way to ensure perfectly fluffy eggs every time – and it comes from Dolly Parton herself.

The country music superstar is famously from the south, being born and raised in Tennessee, and knows a thing or two about making a great Southern breakfast.

Dolly revealed that she makes scrambled eggs every weekend for Carl Dean, her husband of 56 years, and learned a clever trick to make sure they end up fluffy as a cloud every time.

There’s one extra ingredient – which also happens to be free, bonus! – which needs to be added. Ice water.

She explained to Insider: “Somebody told me this once and it works. When you crack your eggs in the bowl, say if you’re going to scramble them, use ice water.

“Put a few drops of ice water as you’re cooking them and that makes them fluffier — it really does! So put a little ice water in that, it’ll fluff them up for you.”

Who knew?

While we’d have been worried about making our scrambled eggs soggy, the dash of icy water apparently helps make them even more delicious.

As well as being a master with the skillet, Dolly has a few more signature breakfast dishes up her bedazzled sleeves.

She revealed: “On Sundays, I make French toast, and I love that with bacon. This is not diet food now, mind you.”

Another item on the menu for Carl is gravy and biscuits, as well as pinto beans and cornbread for lunch on a weekend.

Dolly also confirmed that her talents do not stop at singing and songwriting, as she’s a bit of a chef too, adding: “I just cook whatever comes to mind and whatever I’m in the mood for. I can cook any of it!”

While there’s nothing quite like a home-cooked meal (especially one made by a musical legend herself), she and Carl do sometimes go out to eat, too.

The couple is partial to fast food restaurants, with one of their favorites being Taco Bell. The chain even ended up bringing back its Mexican pizza – which had been discontinued in November 2020 – after Dolly revealed she was such a huge fan of it.

The ‘Jolene’ star had revealed to Insider in February 2022 that she wished Taco Bell would bring it back – and they did just that a couple of months later, adding it back onto menus in May.
