Doritos just released a new coffee flavour

One thing in life we're not short of is crisp flavours.

From Salt and Vinegar to Sour Cream and Chive to Flamin' Hot, those little fried potato shapes aren't short of delicious coatings.

But Doritos has just introduced another one into the mix, and it's so unique we had to tell you about it.

The crisp brand has only gone and launched a coffee flavour, and whilst we aren't totally convinced, we're certainly intrigued.

According to the lucky few who have tried them, they have a "sour, salty coffee flavour" - but the overall verdict is that they're well balanced.

They promise to be bold, sweet and slightly bitter. There's a few catches, though.

The new product can only be obtained in Australia, and the coffee-flavoured crisps - or chips, as theyr'e known over there - are part of a competition, which means they aren't actually available in the shops.

Instead, 300 Australians have had the chance to get their hands on the flavour, via a competition.

There's only one more day to apply, if you're Aussie, and all you have to do is comment on Doritos' social post sharing "what is making you mad right now".

Over on Reddit, people are already curious and suitably perplexed, with one writing: "I knew this had to be Australia."

And TikTok reviews were quick to appear, too, with one saying the flavour was "not as bad as you think," whilst others were... somewhat less enthused.

"I don't know where, who or why the f*ck you'd eat these over other flavours," said TikToker Russ Eats.

However, blogger @sashatyers_ was a bigger fan, telling TikTok: "honestly, I give these a 9.1 out of 10." Strong claim indeed.

"The hit of coffee to begin with was quite jarring, but then after, like, one second they just taste like a normal Dorito," TikToker @alright.hey said.

Sadly (or happily, depending how you feel about 'em), there's no sign of Coffee Doritos making it over here, any time soon.

So, it looks like we'll have to settle for our usual faves.
