Heinz drops a ‘chip spoon’ to scoop up your sauce and it’s utterly genius

We thought we had seen some nifty food innovations in our time, but this one might just take the biscuit.
Heinz has just launched chips in the shape of a spoon, so that people can get their perfect dollop of sauce with every mouthful.
Named Heinz Spoon Friez, the product seeks to solve the age old problem that people face when they don’t get enough Ketchup on each and every chip.
So, if you’re a fan of all things red sauce, you’d better listen up.

The potatoey spoon was invented for anyone who has ever been “friestrated”, according to Heinz – and despite their terrible dad joke, we’ve got to give them credit for what’s ultimately a pretty great idea.
Announced on National French Fry Day (July 13th) the spoons are made out of potato and come in boxes of seven, with the slogan “Friez to enjoy more Heinz,” written on the box.
“Thankfully, the remedy to not being able to achieve the decent dollop of sauce on your fries is here, thanks to our condiment connoisseurs,” a rep from the brand said.
Jenina Carroll-Goldin, Heinz marketing manager, added: “Summer soirees are officially back on the menu this year. Ready to make up for lost time, many of us will be making memories with friends and family, sharing good times and great food.
“With French fries a common accompaniment to many dishes, it only seemed right that we explored a solution in time for the sociable summer season.
“We’re confident that the condiment concept will have a soft spot in many hungry hearts.”

Heinz said it had created the new invention after conducting research that showed 95 percent of people wouldn’t eat chips without a sauce to go with them.
What’s more, 84 percent of people find it frustrating trying to get the right chip to ketchup ratio.
Sounds like the Heinz Spoon Friez are pretty ideal, right? So, what’s the catch?
Unfortunately, these the product won’t be available to buy in every supermarket. Instead, you’ll have to be savvy to get your hands on some – and you’ll need a pinch of luck, too.
Currently, they’re given out via a raffle which runs until July 20th. It’s free to enter, so if you do win, the fries will cost you nothing (result!).
However, supplies are limited and you’re not guaranteed to bag any (boo).

It’s only for people in the UK, too – sorry US Ketchup lovers. However, here’s hoping product will roll out more extensively in the future.
