KFC brings out fried chicken pizza in the US

KFC has officially brought out fried chicken pizza, and it's an innovation we can definitely get behind here at Twisted.

Dubbed Chizza, the fast food dish is currently available in US branches of the fried chicken giant, although it has previously launched in South Korea, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Germany, Spain, and Mexico.

The Chizza lands in stores today (26 February) over in the States, and will be for sale for a limited time.

So, let's break down what a Chizza actually is.

Imagine a pizza but with a fried chicken base, instead of your usual dough.

Each country has a slight adaption of the Chizza, but the US version will essentially be made up of two fried chicken fillets covered in tomato marinara sauce, oozy mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.

"Fried chicken and pizza collaborated to create something even better – the Chizza," said Nick Chavez, CMO of KFC in the US.

"The fan-favorite mashup is finally available in the U.S. after making its way around the world – try it while you can!"

Reacting to the news, one person said it was what "dreams are made of," whilst another said: "Ngl I would eat this".

Even the haters were somewhat on board, with one writing: "That looks absolutely disgusting. Guess I'm gonna have to try it."

Although some did say that it was basically a chicken parm (fair point, but we'll eat it whatever you wanna call it).

How to get the KFC Chizza in the US

The KFC Chizza was originally available at a New York City pop-up, in what they're calling “the world’s first Chizzeria” on Friday, February 23rd, and Saturday, February 24th.

Following that, the Chizza rolled out to become available in participating KFC stores (check your local menu here).

You can get a Chizza in a combo, which comes with one Chizza, Secret Recipe Fries, and a medium drink for $12.99 (£10.24).

Meanwhile, a single Chizza will set you back $9.99 (£7.88).

Sadly, UK shoppers are yet to be offered to try the KFC Chizza. We'll update you as soon as that option becomes available.
