Important news incoming, if you're a McDonald's lover.

The fast food giant is strongly hinting at the comeback of one of its most popular menu items yet, after years of pleading from fans.

Have you guessed it? Yup, the McRib is apparently making a comeback on October 16th, and we are *very* happy about it.

News of the McRib's return started whirring a couple of days ago, after users of the McDonald's app were hit with a notification, which read: "McRib_Test.notification_16.10.24 [TEST]"

When users clicked on the notification, it led to a 404 page not found notification, so it looked like it was an accidental leak, and excitement ensued.

However, others weren't falling for it, suggesting that the leak was intended to stoke excitement.

"There is definitely currently no reason for this page to not exist. Probably," some text below the screen read.

Hmmm, nice work Maccies. Top marketing indeed.

Reacting to the news, one person on X [formerly Twitter] said: "Please, in the name of all that is sacred, let this be true. @McDonaldsUK goofed with an email test - that they sent to me - that suggests the McRib is coming back on October 16th. #McRib"

While another wrote: "Ummm excuse me McDonald’s, we all saw it. THE MCRIB IS COMING BACK!"

"That exciting moment when @McDonaldsUK sends a test #McRib notification accidentally," said a third.

The McRib first landed in McDonald's branches back in 1981, and was a beloved menu mainstay until it was discontinued four years later.

It has returned since, like in 2014, when it made a comeback in burger form. The McRib burger came filled with a pork patty that was smothered in Western BBQ sauce, with pickles and onions on the side.

And it's safe to say the demand was as great as ever, so much so that there was even a website called the McRib Locator, which alerted fans as to branches of Maccies where they could get their fix.

While McDonald's HQ haven't officially announced anything about the McRib yet, it's certainly looking like there could be rumblings of a return soon.

We'll update you as soon as we know more!
