McDonald's Snack Wrap is making a comeback - but with a twist

McDonald's boss has teased that the chain will finally be bringing back Snack Wraps in the US, and it's safe to say people are gonna be happy about it.

The fast food giant has discontinued many items over the years, but Snack Wraps might just take the biscuit as one of the most in-demand, since they were cut from menus in 2016.

While we don't know exactly when Snack Wraps will be making a comeback, USA McDonald's President Joe Erlinger said in a meeting with investors at Wall Street Journal's Global Food Forum in Chicago recently that they were on the radar.

He outlined a plan to launch McCrispy chicken tenders, following the success of the McCrispy sandwich.

And once they've been nailed? The plan is to pop them in a McCrispy wrap, apparently.

Now, we're still a while away from Snack Wraps hitting menus, but it seems as if the wheels are in motion.

In a viral TikTok post, food news page @snachwithzach said some United States Maccies branches were seeing the tenders on menus, meaning they're officially in the testing phase.

Apparently, the strips were tested in seven stores in Hickory, N.C., through July 21.

"It’s a great indicator of @McDonald’s future plans for the McCrispy platform as well as the snack wrap, which they hinted could eventually be returning sometime during 2025," the food blogger said.

The chicken won't just be like your standard Chicken Selects. According to the blogger, the difference will be the "breading primarily," as well as the overall "taste".

Maccies boss Erlinger said the chain would be focusing on chicken as a new opportunity, mainly because that market was growing.

"We think we're poised to serve that trend well," he said.

Perhaps most exciting of all? The Maccies US boss hinted at the return of the McRib this year, after pleading from fans.

The McRib - made of boneless pork dipped in BBQ sauce – landed on the menu in 1982, and has made several appearances over the years.

Chicken Snack Wraps and the McRib? We're feeling all nostalgic...
