A festival dedicated entirely to chicken nuggets is coming to Australia

Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Are you partial to a chicken nugget or 12? Well, what if we told you there was an entire festival dedicated to them?!

We’re really, truly, serious.

Lucky Australians will be able to head down to a Chicken Nugget Festival at Thornbury in Melbourne next month, and tuck into every type of ‘nug they could possibly imagine.

Opening to the public on June 11th, the festival will be free to enter, and will see chicken nugget burgers, sarnies and pizzas, as well as bao buns on offer.

There will also be cheesy nugs and a variety of nuggets on sticks, with dipping sauces, to pick from.

You know when they say you can never have too much of a good thing? Well, we can’t think of a situation where that’s any more applicable!

Stalls gracing the festival will include Roadrunner Fried Chicken, Miss Katie’s Chicken Shack, Hot Star Melbourne, The Real Jerk Food Truck, Gorilla Grill and Mr Burger, alongside several other big names in Melbourne’s food scene.

And if you’re still hungry after filling your boots with savoury nuggets, you can treat yourself to a dessert nug, too. Yep, you read that correctly.

The sweet creation will come from the folks at Dip’d Gourmet Mini Donuts, and will see the doughnut and the humble ‘nug collab (in the same way that chicken and waffles are a certified thing, we can certainly see this working).

The festival will run from 12pm into the evening, so any nugget lovers in the area will be able to make their way down. All age groups are welcome.

Unfortunately for fellow British readers, the ‘nug festival will not be cropping up over here, it’s only for our pals Down Under.

It comes after a hugely successful garlic bread festival was held in the same spot last month. You can read more about that here.

All isn’t lost though, as there are plenty of fast-food related festivals landing on our soil soon – Wing Fest being one of them.

Arriving in September, the festival is dedicated entirely to chicken wings, and promises music, beer and poultry aplenty.

We’ll bring you more deets on that as it draws closer. In the meantime, let’s all just silently envy our mates in Aus.

Don’t have too much fun without us, guys.
