Popeyes brings out ‘Girl Dinner’ made up of sides

Popeyes has jumped on the latest ‘Girl Dinner’ trend by launching a limited edition menu option.

The fast food chain couldn’t miss out on all of the TikTok hype, so it decided to make its own version of the trend.

For those who don’t know what we’re on about, ‘Girl Dinner’, it was coined by TikToker, Olivia Maher, and is basically another word for eating a load of nibbly bits for dinner, instead of one main.

In the UK, it’s known as ‘Picky Bits’ but it’s basically the same premise.

But whatever you wanna call it, Popeyes clearly wanted to get in on the idea, pushing a selection of six side dishes on its website in its honour.

Under the name, ‘Girl Dinner’ US customers can now order mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, Cajun fries, coleslaw, biscuits, and red beans with rice. No mains, just lots of delicious sides to dip into.

As nifty as the idea sounds, it didn’t take people long to realise that the section of the website was just exactly the same as the ‘sides’ page, but with a new name.

You still have to order each dish one by one, there are no promotions or discounts or group bundles…and it even has the same picture as the sides section of the website.

Still, you’ve gotta love reactive marketing, right?!

“They didn’t actually do anything tho!!! It’s just sides, there isn’t a combo mix-n-match,” said one individual over on TikTok. “They duplicated the sides tab and renamed it ‘Girl Dinner.’”

Whilst another wrote: “Love how Popeyes added a “Girl Dinner” section to their menu but it’s literally just the sides.”

There were others that bought right into it, though.

The Popeyes Girl Dinner is only available for a limited time (as with all TikTok trends).

However, the good news is you can easily replicate it by just ordering all of their normal sides.
