Restaurant and bar chain BrewDog has collaborated with THIS plant-based meat alternative brand, in order to produce the first skin-on vegan chicken wings.

Made from soy and pea protein, the wings are covered with a crispy seaweed “skin”, which promises to replicate the taste and texture you'd expect from standard chicken version.

In what they call an “unparalleled sensory experience," the new THIS Isn’t Chicken Wings also mimics darker cuts of meat, found in the likes of wings and thighs, whilst most artificial meat is made to emulate the lighter cuts.

The new wings are available to try in BrewDog bars, restaurants and hotels around the UK throughout Veganuary.

They come after a two years of development and the use of three patent-pending technologies.

Selling at only 25p a wing across BrewDog sites that serve food, you can get these coated in buffalo, Korean BBQ or dragon spice sauce.

The skin-on wings launch alongside three other products – THIS Isn’t Crispy Chicken Stack, THIS Isn’t Chicken Malaysian Noodles and THIS Isn’t Chicken Poutine.

Chad Crooks, global director of food at BrewDog, said of the launch: "At BrewDog our menu is proudly 50 percent plant-based and we like to stay at the forefront of plant-based innovation.

"We are excited this Veganuary to collaborate with THIS with an entirely plant-based line up of specials.

"Their new THIS Isn’t Chicken Wings are really impressive, we are really pleased to be part of their launch and showcase them to our chicken wing fans."

Andy Shovel, co-founder of THIS commented: "Ironically, the launch of this product has been the opposite of winging it, with over a year of R&D [research and development].

"They are probably the meatiest product we’ve ever launched and genuinely very unique – even Red Bull can’t give you these.”

Whether you're vegan or not, we bet you're intrigued to try these!
