Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

White Castle might be one of the most popular chains in the US, but it isn’t stopping there.

Now, the drive-thru chain has gone one step further and launched a new hybrid product – the burger flavoured pizza roll.

Before you raise a confused eyebrow, we should clarify that the product isn’t actually available on White Castle menus, instead it’s joining the fast food giant’s frozen range, in supermarkets.

Dubbed White Castle Bites, the snacks are “made with 100 percent real beef and onions and wrapped in a crispy golden crust.”

They may look like pizza rolls on the outside, but they don’t actually have pizza fillings. Instead, they come in hamburger and cheeseburger flavours.

“Castle Bites are a fun, new way to extend the crave, offering a delicious option that meets the mark on distinctive taste,” Lynn Blashford, White Castle’s CMO, said in a statement.

The products, made in collaboration with Belliso Foods, join the likes of frozen sliders and chicken wings, which sit as part of the White Castle frozen range.

Unfortunately for UK shoppers, the burger pizza rolls won’t be on offer over here.

“Snacking at home has continued to grow as consumers seek convenient and delicious options that fit within new schedules and routines,” Steve Young, Bellisio Foods’ CEO, said in a statement.

“Bellisio is proud to utilise our more than 30 years of experience in frozen foods and in snack rolls to launch such an innovative product.

“We’re excited to build upon our partnership with White Castle, especially following the successful launch of the White Castle Chicken Rings at retail.”

There’s no telling if White Castle’s pizza rolls will be so popular they’ll make it onto actual menus any time soon.

In the meantime, we guess we’d better wait and see if they’re actually worth the hype.
