Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

As cooking has started to become sexy, all sorts of famous people have tried to get involved. First we had Gwyneth Paltrow and her slightly irritating but ultimately innocent attempt to get us all to eat rabbit food. Then we had Chrissy Teigen making comfort food that no one could possibly finish eating and still look like Chrissy Teigen. Celebrity cooking ventures have come and gone in all shapes and sizes, but have been fairly predictable. Until now.

The enigma variously known as Snoop Dogg, Snoop Lion, Snoopzilla and DJ Snoopadelic has announced that he will soon be releasing a cookbook to celebrate his love of the kitchen. In a statement, Uncle Snoop said, “You know it’s blazin’ up in my kitchen. I’m takin’ the cookbook game higher with a dipped and whipped collection of my favourite recipes, ya dig?” We dig.

The publication comes as The Doggfather is enjoying newfound success on TV, co-hosting a cooking show with lifestyle legend Martha Stewart. The series, called “Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party”, has won fans around the world and has revealed a side to the notorious gangster rapper that few knew existed.

His debut cookbook, entitled “From Crook to Cook”, contains an eclectic array of recipes to cater for every taste. Included are ideas for classic fine dining dishes such as lobster thermidor, alongside comfort food staples like chicken and waffles. In a mysterious cocktail section, Snoop Doggy Dogg has also promised that there will be a recipe for the definitive Gin and Juice.

The new release has got Coach Snoop’s literary partners very excited. In a statement released to the media, Chronicle Books publisher Christine Carswell exclaimed “Snoop Dogg and Chronicle Books are about to Snoopify the cookbook world and kitchens around the world.” She went on to add that, “Snoop’s book is full of his iconic creative energy – it’s as much fun to read as it is to cook from.”

Somewhat surprisingly, the new book will not feature one of Snoop Rock’s most beloved ingredients. Despite the rapper’s legendary habit, there will be no suggestions for cooking with marijuana in this debut release. However, it has been revealed that fans will not have to wait long for a dose, as Bigg Snoop Dogg has announced plans to release a new range of cannabis-based cookery books through his media start up, “Merry Jane”, in 2020.

Whilst rapping and cooking may seem an unlikely combination to the uninitiated, this is not the first time that the two professions have crossed paths. Artist 2Chainz, for instance, released a 28-page recipe book in 2013 titled #MealTime, whilst singer Kelis published my life on a plate in 2015. We should never have expected less from the writer of “Milkshake”. Expletive-heavy culinary enthusiast Action Bronson, meanwhile, has also found fame with his television series, “F**k, That’s Delicious”. Clearly, music and food have more in common than you might think.

It remains to be seen just how delicious the lord of Tha Dogg Pound’s dishes will actually be. But, if his previous work in the kitchen is anything to go by, we could all be cooking with Snoop come Christmas.
