Summer might be in full swing, but it’s never too early to start getting excited about Christmas. Some might argue that discussing presents, stockings and Santa halfway through August shows that we have become dangerously obsessed with the holidays. These people are grinches and are not to be trusted. Now, it seems, we have proof that one of the world’s biggest soft drink brands is on the same page.
New for 2019, Coca-Cola company-owned lemonade specialists Sprite have announced something that’s guaranteed to help you feel festive. Alongside their traditional citrus flavour, the brand have revealed a recently developed Christmas concoction, dubbed “Winter Spiced Cranberry.”
Though details surrounding the new drink are sketchy, it seems that the cranberry drink is already creeping onto supermarket shelves. Spotted by prominent food influencers, including Instagrammer @CandyHunting, the consensus seems to be that the cans will be widely available before the holiday season gets under way, meaning we should get to try before we pour it all in our office punch.
Despite general excitement around the announcement, some have pointed out that this isn’t the first time Sprite have dabbled with cranberry. In 2014, Sprite Cranberry was released in partnership with basketball star LeBron James, to generally positive reviews. However, this early version lacked the “spiced” element, suggesting that 2019 could see something altogether different.
For anyone eager to get their order in early, the new edition is currently available on Instacart, although it looks like delivery is only available in the US. It remains to be seen when or whether it will get a wider release. One this is for sure, this Christmas promises to be a whole lot spicier than normal.
