Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Combining classic comfort food and snacks is a tricky tightrope. Normally, the last thing that delicious dishes like pizza and pasta need is to be turned into a potato chip. However, every so often, one of the big names in the global snack game comes up with something that sounds so outrageously irresistible, it’s impossible to not feel a little bit excited.

In a bid to make pouring macaroni into a snack bowl socially acceptable, crisp-giants Lays have decided to introduce “Cheddar Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese”-flavoured potato chips. Exclusive to Sam’s Club, the variety is described as “Cheesy, savory, crispy and delicious” on the company’s website. Given the tasty inspiration behind the chips, we’re not going to argue.

Although the Mac ‘n’ Cheese flavour might feel like a novelty, this isn’t actually the first time that they’ve graced our shelves. The crisps were originally trialled way back in 2014 as part of Lay’s “Do us a flavour” limited promotion, where the brand challenged the public to come up with their next delicious variety.

According to the official description on the Sam’s Club website:

“Lay’s Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese is a limited time only flavor. It all starts with farm-grown potatoes, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Then we add the delicious flavor of cheddar bacon mac & cheese. So every LAY’S potato chip is perfectly crispy and delicious.”

The crisps are currently available for a reasonably hefty $3.49 in 15.25 oz. bags, meaning that it might be best to treat them as a sharer. It’s also worth noting that they are described as “Limited time only”, so snackers will have to move quickly if they want to secure some. The crisps might not come cheap, but they certainly sound delicious.
