Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

We all need to be poked awake occasionally. Were it not for the wall of coffee shops that line high streets across the country, there’s a very good chance that absolutely nothing would ever get done before 11 o’clock.

However, when you’re feeling particularly snoozy, it can be difficult to decide which of the many fast food coffee franchises are going to give you the biggest jolt. It can mean the difference between a productive day and a mid-morning crash. So that you know exactly how to shock yourself into wakefulness, here are the most caffeinated fast food drinks options on the planet.

7. Panera Frozen Mocha

You might not automatically turn to something icy for a morning pick-me-up, but Panera have proved that there’s more to coffee slush than meets the eye. Weighing in with an average 267 mg of caffeine in every cup, the Panera Frozen Mocha will definitely help to rouse you from slumber.

6. Tim Horton’s Large Americano

When compared to some of the other big names in speedy coffee, Tim Horton’s are fairly restrained when it comes to caffeine. Their large Americano, however, can still hold its head high. Weighing in with 270 mg in each cup, this is still a potent, if less densely packed, morning brew.

5. Seven Eleven Regular

Of all the major coffee brands, it is Seven Eleven that has the highest average caffeine content in a medium cup of Americano. Measuring an average of 280 mg in each serving, Seven Eleven stack up well against competitors such as Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, at least when it comes to traditional coffee.

4. The Coffee Beanery

Though the Coffee Beanery only provides official measurements for 8 oz cups rather than the standard 16, it’s clear that their beans pack a serious punch. Adjusted for inflation, an average cup of Coffee Beanery brew will contain a whopping 300 mg of caffeine.

3. Dunkin Donuts Large Coffee with Turbo Shot

We’re now getting to the heavyweights of the division. Dunkin Donuts has been America’s go-to for morning wake up calls for decades, and, if the large coffee with turbo shot is anything to go by, with good reason. The extra injection of concentrated coffee takes this drink up to a total 330 mg of caffeine in every cup.

2. Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Regular

They might not be the first name on everyone’s lips when it comes to coffee, but Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf are not to be underestimated. Their regular sized cup of black coffee contains an enormous 333 mg of caffeine, according to industry experts Coffee Insider. It might look innocent, but this is the last thing you should be drinking if you want a good night’s sleep.

1. Starbucks Venti Americano

For when you need to be jolted awake and you don’t have something painful or illegal on hand, your first port of call hs to be the Starbucks Venti. Served in a 20 oz cup rather than the usual 16, not only is this coffee the biggest on the market, but it is also the most caffeinated. With an estimated 415 mg in every serving, this drink has more caffeine in one portion than what guidelines suggest should be drunk over the course of an entire day.

All coffee can do a job when it comes to staying awake. However, as we’ve just seen, there are some choices that are far superior to others. If you need to wake up sharpish, look no further than this caffeine-heavy list.
