We're all for supermarkets getting inventive with their festive offerings, but how do you feel about Easter eggs for Christmas?

Yup, you're not the only person who's a little unsure...

Aldi has only gone and released a 'Chreaster egg', which puts a Christmassy spin on your classic Easter egg – and all importantly, gives you an excuse to eat them in December.

The only real difference between the Chreaster egg and your classic Easter egg is that it's decorated with seasonal imagery on the package.

You can either pick Garry the Gingerbread Man or Parker the Penguin – both cute little characters who would make a lovely festive gift.

According to Aldi, the eggs are designed to be stocking fillers, and they make no bones about the fact they're mean to be conversation starters, too.

Over on social media, people have been quick to prove them right...

"Eggs! Just no, Aldi. We all know that Christmas chocolate is either sphere, triangular, circular or hexagon shaped! The most exotic shape allowed is Quality Street's purple one!" said one person in the comments.

Whilst another wrote: "I saw these in my Aldi on Saturday and I was so confused."

"This is just to save the embarrassment of having Easter eggs on the shelves on Boxing Day isn’t it?!" joked a third.

But others were much more on board.

"This is so cursed I actually love it," said someone else.

As another agreed: "I'll take them all thank you!"

We're personally not going to argue with any excuse for eating Easter eggs all year round. So, bravo, Aldi, we're on board.

In fact, if the rest of the supermarkets are listening, we'd like to propose that everybody gets on the Chreaster egg hype.

If nothing else, it'll cause some chatter around the living room at Christmas!
