This is ‘world’s best McDonald’s’, according to Michelin starred chef

Are all McDonald’s branches made equal? Not according to this Michelin starred chef.

Yup, the owner of Wales’ best restaurant, Gareth Ward, has hailed a Maccies in Welshpool, Wales, the very “best in the world,” and we have to admit he’s made us want to take a trip…

During a recent interview, the  two Michelin star, five AA rosette chef, who fronts up Ynyshir, said he wasn’t too good for a Big Mac and chips, adding that one particular branch was the best restaurant in Wales (after his own establishment, of course).

Not only that, but it was the best of all the eatery’s 38,000 global restaurants.

When asked his top restaurant pick, he told Wales Online: “Welshpool McDonald’s. I’m telling you now, Welshpool McDonald’s is on a different level.

“It’s just got different [elements] to everyone else. [It’s] just absolutely smashing it.”

He added that last time he ordered a crispy chicken burger from the fast food chain “it definitely had [something like] truffle mayonnaise on it.”

(He was probably tasting the black pepper mayo, but we love the enthusiasm.)

“I don’t think it did, but it tasted like it did,” he added. “Everybody I speak to says this is, by far, the best MacDonald’s in the world. Welshpool McDonald’s that’s what it’s all about.”

You heard it here first, folks – and this guy seriously knows his food.

It’s unsurprising that this Maccies still has a glow to it, seeing as it opened in May, 2021.

The branch is open 24 hours a day for seven days a week, and alongside digital menus, you can order from your mobile as well – savvy, right?

Okay, okay. This is the case in many stores, but it’s the only concrete reason we can give to differentiate this store from some of the others.

It might be hard to quantify, but Gareth isn’t alone when it comes to singing the restaurant’s praises – all you have to do is look on Google and Trip Advisor.

“The staff are polite, the service is quick and the food is fresh… This one is different,” said one person.

Whilst another wrote: “Best Macdonald’s I’ve been in. Fresh and juicy beef (wasn’t expecting good meat at McDonald’s), quick service, table service. We got greeted at the door.”

“One of the best McDonald’s I’ve used. The service is great and the staff are very friendly. The food tastes great and the fries are always hot not like In other restaurants,” said someone else.

It’s worth noting that we can’t personally vouch for this Maccies, and if we’re being real, it’s highly likely that a lot of people think their local McDonald’s is the best.

Still, you can’t get a better reference than the owner of the country’s best restaurant.
