People are debating which side is the top of a chocolate digestive

Biscuits often spark debates, which is funny really, given they’re such a lovely thing.

To dunk or not to dunk? What makes a biscuit a biscuit? What’s superior, a plain digestive or one slathered in chocolate?

If your answer is the latter then we have another conundrum for you…which side of a chocolate digestive is the top?

It turns out that this debate is also a crowd divider, and your staunch opinion on the matter may well be very different from your friends and family (queue a hefty debate…)

Here at Twisted, we’ve always believed that the chocolate lives on top of the digestive. Like, duh?

But it turns out others passionately believe it to be on the bottom of the biccy.

So, what’s the right answer?

Is the chocolate on the top of a McVitie’s biscuit or the bottom?

According to McVitie’s, who make not only Chocolate Digestives but also Chocolate Hobnobs and Jaffa Cakes, the chocolate side of the biscuit is actually the bottom.

Sorry, WHAT NOW?!

Caroline Hipperson, Chief Marketing Officer for the company, explains the biscuits “swim through a reservoir of chocolate when we make them, which dips their bottoms in chocolate.

“So, we can officially confirm that the side with the chocolate on is in fact the bottom of a McVitie’s chocolate biscuit. We will, however, leave it up to biscuit lovers everywhere to decide how they enjoy theirs.”

Reacting to the news on Twitter, people’s opinons were certainly passionate.

“Found out today that the chocolate on a chocolate digestive is on the bottom of the biscuit and not the top. My whole life has been a lie,” said one person. 

Whilst another wrote: “THE CHOCOLATE IS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CHOCOLATE DIGESTIVE???… #mindblown.” We feel ya. 

There were others who had known the truth their whole life, with one guy joking: “Bout to break up with my girlfriend cause she thinks the chocolate part of a digestive is the top instead of the bottom.”

Naturally, it doesn’t really matter which way round the biscuit is when you jam it into your mouth. 

But we can’t pretend this news hasn’t shaken us to the core.
