Kim Kardashian doesn’t know what tortellini is and the reactions are hilarious

Of all the controversies we expected the Kardashians to face, we didn’t have a pasta based issue at the top of our list – but believe it or not, that’s what is happening right now, after the latest season of The Kardashians, on Disney+.

Yup, Kim Kardashian has found herself at the centre of a tortellini based scandal. Namely, she doesn’t know what it is…

In a scene from the reality show which aired last week, Kim, 41, was dining in an Italian restaurant before watching her sister, Kendall Jenner, walk in Milan Fashion Week.

Reading the menu, she asks: “What is tortellini?”, to which the waiter replies that it’s “like ravioli.”

But people couldn’t believe that, given Kim’s incredibly well travelled and affluent background, she still didn’t know about the pretty popular pasta shape. 

“All the money in the world .. still doesn’t know what tortellini is,” mused one viewer after the scene took place. 

Whilst another wrote: “Kim K asking what tortellini is just blew my mind lol.”

“There’s been so much celeb drama lately but what I’m truly most shocked by is the fact that Kim K had to ask an Italian server what tortellini was,” said a third. 

A fourth chimed in: “Nothing prepared me for kim k asking a server in milan what tortellini is in the year of our lord 2022”.

As a fifth joked: “Wealth is wasted on the rich.”

Truth be told, we don’t think it’s that crazy that Kim doesn’t know her pasta shapes off by heart, especially since she has a chef doing most of her cooking for her.

Just case, like Kim, you aren’t so sure, tortellini is from the Italian region of Emilia, and is a stuffed pasta which is usuallyrolled into a small ring and stuffed with meat and cheese.

Satisfied simply with a ravioli comparison, Kim says she’ll have that, alongside “[anything] that’s not spaghetti…maybe a penne or anything else.”

The pasta order was a rarity for Kim, who regularly eats a vegan diet, but allows herself the odd holiday treat.

“Tonight I have no restrictions. We’re eating,” she says to the camera.

“I’m not sure if I’ve ever clarified this, but I’m what I think they call a flexitarian, which is like vegan sometimes, but just not other times. So YOLO.”
