The nature of fast food is that it often isn't as freshly prepared as if you went somewhere fine dining.

Delicious as it may be, we all know that a McDonald's burger isn't gourmet, right?

But there is one McDonald's burger which is freshly prepared, when all the others come frozen.

In case you were looking to treat yourself, that burger is the Quarter Pounder, which the US website promise is 'cooked when you order'.

The beloved beef burger is one of McDonald's US' menu OGs, and is cooked at point of order (rather than precooked and frozen) to ensure that none of those beefy flavours are lost along the way.

The burger landed in branches back in 1971, but the move to freshly cook the burgers didn't come until 2018.

At the time, Maccies bosses described the transition as "the most significant change to our system and restaurant operations since All Day Breakfast".

Quite the claim, ay?

But it was a success. Apparently, Quarter Pounder sales skyrocketed by 40 million from Q1 2018 to Q1 2019 (as per Nation's Restaurant News).

Unfortunately for us folk in the UK, it looks like the freshly cooked Quarter Pounder hasn't made it over here yet.

As reported by LadBible, according to the UK McDonald's website, their burgers are made of minced, frozen, beef, and there isn't a mention of anything being cooked fresh.

"Once the beef burgers are made, they are frozen straightaway, carefully packed and delivered to our restaurants. Nothing is added apart from a pinch of salt and pepper after cooking," the website states.

McDonald's may not have brought this change over to the UK, but bosses did recently implement a bunch of tweaks to their beef burgers to make them more appetising.

The changes rolled out last year to applause from customers. But have you noticed any of the alterations? You can read about them here.
