Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Famed TV chef and cheeky culinary chappy Jamie Oliver has announced plans to take on the world’s thriving takeaway industry in a brand new show featuring members of the public.

In a Facebook post shared on Monday, Oliver revealed that he’s looking for participants who are eager to learn how to stop relying on takeaways and learn to cook for themselves, directing would-be applicants to a link on his site. The promotion has since attracted hundreds of comments from eager fans.

In a caption accompanying a photo of a pointing Oliver in his studio kitchen, the chef declared:

“Guys I’m working on a new TV show and I’m looking for people who eat a lot of takeaways and want to stop relying on them and learn how to cook for themselves!! If you know someone who loves food but doesn’t love cooking, click the link for an application form and let me know all about them!!”

He went on to add that fans can either nominate themselves “or somebody else” that they think might be eager to take part.

The link on Jamie Oliver’s website provides even more information, stating:

“Whoever you are, whatever your age or background, we are looking for non cooks to take part in an exciting new TV programme. If something is stopping you, or someone you know, from putting that apron on, then we would love to hear from you!”

Successful applicants must download and complete the online application form as well as provide digital photographs of themselves and their kitchen. The site also states that “(a)ll applicants must be 18 years or over and legally resident in the UK.”

Takeaways are big business, especially in the UK, where estimates suggest that people order around 34 takeaways each per year. Clearly, if he’s going to take on such a popular industry, Oliver is going to have his work cut out.
