Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

It’s fair to say that the last few months have been far from ideal for anyone trying to host a birthday party. Strangely, facilitating drunken arguments and terrible dancing hasn’t been included in any of the guidelines provided by governments looking to stop the spread of a deadly disease.

Given the weeks of enforced isolation, would-be celebrants could be forgiven for feeling like they’ve been shortchanged. Fortunately, however, doughnut mega-brand Krispy Kreme has decided to step up to the dessert plate with an offer that might go some way to making up for the lack of festivities.

In a bold announcement, the business has declared that it will giving away a free doughnut to anyone who had a birthday between the 23rd of March and 3rd of July. As Krispy Kreme UK and Ireland CEO, Richard Chesire explained:

“We started making our iconic Original Glazed doughnut from the USA in 1937.

Check out the promo for Krispy Kreme Original Filled Donuts:

“Ever since, we’ve always been committed to making people smile. For our birthday this year, we want to bring smiles to the millions of UK doughnut fans who feel like they missed out on celebrations this year by offering the joy of an Original Glazed treat on us!”

Now, there’s an excuse to have a party.

Of course, as with almost any impossibly tempting fast food offer, there are caveats. For instance, although estimates have suggested that the offer will apply to an estimated 22 million people, there is now official word on exactly where is taking part. Confirmation has come from both the UK and Australia, but there has been no word yet on whether the offer is available in the United States.

Also, the offer is only set to be active until the 19th of July, so birthday boys and girls will have to order quickly if they’re going to benefit. That being said, this promotion should hopefully help the lack of immediate family and friends feel slightly less painful. After all, doughnuts do make everything better.
