Krispy Kreme is bringing back three iconic Reese’s peanut butter doughnuts

Peanut butter works wonders with pretty much anything. Apart from instantly improving every dessert under the sun, the sticky, slightly salty spread has proved so useful that it’s been added to everything from chicken satay to a secret Shake Shack burger. Sleep on PB at your peril. 

Given how hard the whole world has fallen for the crunchy charms of peanut butter, you have to do something seriously special to make headlines with a new nutty release. Novelty desserts with a coating of Skippy are now a dime a dozen. That said, if you can’t get excited about Krispy Kreme’s decision to bring back three of their most beloved peanut butter doughnuts for a limited time, there is no hope for you. 

Starting today, US Krispy Kreme customers will be able to pick up three classic Reese’s peanut butter doughnuts at participating stores. The designs, which come from 2017, 2018 and 2019, showcase several different peanut butter features, all offering the opportunity to overindulge.

The 2017 classic “Reese’s” comes stuffed with a filling of peanut butter kreme, a Hershey’s chocolate coating, mini peanut butter chips and a lazy drizzle of chocolate and peanut butter sauce. 

The “Reese’s Outrageous Doughnut” from 2018 features a chocolate-coated ring, mini Reese’s pieces and lashings of peanut butter caramel icing, while the 2019 offering, dubbed the “Reese’s Original Chocolate Lover’s Doughnut”, rocks an intense peanut butter kreme filling and two types of icing. Needless to say, it’s a mouthwatering selection. 

The exciting announcement offers customers the chance to save their favourite flavour from the Krispy Kreme trash heap, as the most popular design will retain its spot on the menu. All the doughnuts will be available until the 16th of August, and voting will take place on social media. We advise you to choose carefully.
