Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Candy Corn has always been a divisive topic. Whenever the autumn snackathon rolls around, anyone peering hopefully into a trick or treat bag knows that sinking feeling when you spy a smattering of yellow, toothy nuggets. But, somehow, the powers that be at the world’s biggest Candy Corn producers have found a way to make the sweets even more unappealing with a flavour combo guaranteed to raise some serious questions.

Proving that common sense is rarely an obstacle to a mad idea, Brach’s confectionery company has announced plans for turkey dinner-flavoured candy corn. This includes the full range of Thanksgiving favourites, including turkey, beans and stuffing, packed into a sugary kernel. It is just as weird as it sounds.

Available now at Walgreens stores for the suspiciously generous price of $2.99 for a 12-ounce bag, the full range of weird flavourings includes Roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, green beans, ginger glazed carrots, and, for dessert, sweet potato pie. To top it off, each candy piece is colour coded to match the corresponding ingredient. Eat up.

In a statement accompanying the new release, brand manager Mariah Havens revealed:

“We’re always innovating with trends and fun flavours, and we know this year is different than anything we’ve ever seen—much like our new Brach’s Turkey Dinner candy corn, which includes a full-course meal of traditional Thanksgiving favourites.

“From roasted turkey, green beans and stuffing to ginger-glazed carrots, cranberry sauce and sweet potato pie, our new Turkey Dinner offering is the perfect mix to welcome fall and celebrate the season with family and friends.”

While we’re all for unusual ingredient combinations, even we have to raise an eyebrow at candied turkey. We wait to be convinced.
