Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

Being able to eat something delicious without ever having to leave your car has long been one of the key selling points of fast food. Even if you aren’t overly keen on squashed burgers and hastily battered chicken, there has always been something deliciously sordid about stuffing French fries into your mouth from the front seat of your car.

Like much of the fast-food world, this guilty pleasure has often been a meat-first exercise. Yes, veggie and vegan options for car-based browsing have been available, but they’ve rarely been served with the same enthusiasm as their fleshy counterparts. Fortunately for anyone who prefers a plant-based lifestyle, this is now set to change.

This week, a new collaboration between vegan food manufacturers Meatless Farm and popular streetfood burger experts Mother Flipper promises to change the game for veggie fast-food fans, with the opening of the UK’s first-ever meat-free drive-thru.

Irreverently dubbed “The M*** F*** Drive Thru”, the new venture will operate out of the America Car Wash on Hackney Road, Shoreditch. On offer will be a selection of three twists on traditional drive-thru classics, including “The Greta” burger, with aubergine bacon, “The Cheeseburger” and “The McBluffin” breakfast sandwich.

Everything on the menu will be vegetarian, although some items will contain both eggs and dairy. Vegan customers will have the option of substituting both out for a completely animal-free alternative. Anyone arriving in an electric car or bicycle will also be able to benefit from a 50% discount as the pop-up looks to promote environmentally responsible travel.

Unfortunately for plant-based fast-food lovers, this particular addition to the landscape is only going to be short-lived. As per the promotional material, “The M*** F*** Drive Thru” is set to move on after Monday 31st August. If you want to get a taste of the most convenient veggie food you could ever wish for, you’ll have to move fast.
