Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

If you’ve spent lockdown dreaming of weekends whey-laden with sharp cheddars and ripe stiltons, we may have discovered the ultimate way for you to celebrate your new-found freedom.

Offering an insider’s tour of London’s ultimate cheesy hot spots, the London Cheese Crawl is an expedition with a delicious difference. Taking a leaf out of the traditional bar crawl, the event takes punters on a journey across central London, stopping off at some of the world’s finest cheese purveyors en route. All you need is £25 and an appetite.

Taking place every Saturday at both 12 and 3 o’clock, the London Cheese Crawl is a two-hour, socially distanced dairy extravaganza, kicking off near Green Park right in the heart of town. As the official description of the event explains:

“Starting in Mayfair, this walking tour will take you through the various cheese types, from the finest blue to the creamiest stilton in the capital. Get involved in the cheese quiz, with bonus points going to the cheesiest joker of the day.

“Visit Churchill’s favourite cheesemonger—the oldest in London—and try some freshly-made truffle brie paired with a lovely bit of bubbly. You’ll finish in the idyllic Neals Yard with a truly delicious and unique gooey cheese!”

The new tour will be a welcome relief to members of the British cheese establishment, many of whom have been hit harder than most by the pandemic. Not only has footfall dramatically reduced, but the Coronavirus crisis has disrupted supply chains, both on the production line and in the distribution network.

With many top restaurants forced into providing a reduced service, demand for top-quality artisinal cheeses simply hasn’t been as high. No doubt many of the most famous names in the industry will be hoping that the London Cheese Crawl can get them back on their feet.
