There are a few ingredients that you can add to basically anything. Baileys is one such ingredient. Sneaking in something sweet and alcoholic is the ultimate way to turn pudding from tempting to irresistible. Thank god then, that the world’s most famous coffee liqueur-makers have pulled out all the stops for a line-up of cakes that would make Willy Wonka go weak at the knees.
New for 2019, Baileys have decided to make some adjustments to the freakshake-inspired cakes that stole headlines this time last year, unveiling both mini Baileys salted caramel cupcakes and a giant hot chocolate cake. Currently available in several major British supermarkets, the treats are ideal as either a solo snack, or a crowdpleaser. It’s a good time to have a sweet tooth.
Although both flavours are obviously exciting, it’s the hot chocolate freakshake that really steals the show. According to the official product description, the giant cake serves up to 18 people, and is “filled and topped with a Baileys flavour frosting, finished with mini mallows and saucy chocolate drizzle.” At 232 calories per serving, it’s not something to take lightly.

The cakes have been created in collaboration with the Finsbury Food Group, who were also responsible for Baileys’ first foray into freakshake territory last year. Following the successful launch, the new flavours represent a fresh approach, improving upon the basic “chocolate cake” approach adopted in 2018. It looks like the expansion is worth it.
The giant cakes are currently available for around £12 at Sainsbury’s, Asda and Tesco, while the mini cupcakes can be found in all major supermarkets, retailing for £4 for a pack of 12. The nights might be getting longer, but at least that means we don’t have to be overly worried about our beach bods. Thankfully.
