You can now get an It-inspired frappuccino at Starbucks

Twisted: Unserious food tastes seriously good.

After two years spent slumbering in post-production, It: Chapter Two has finally awoken to wreak havoc on the world’s cinema screens. After the hype that followed the first film, it’s hardly surprising that the second coming of Pennywise has been heralded with even more fanfare and OTT opportunism from the planet’s biggest brands. September used to be about pumpkin-spiced everything. Now, it’s all about clowns.

It’s to be expected that brands who have absolutely no business associating themselves with an inter-dimensional demon who eats children are still shoehorning poor Pennywise into their marketing. Equally unsurprising is the fact that some are proving more successful than others. Case in point, the It-inspired Starbucks iced coffee that is currently dominating Instagram feeds.

While not officially part of the Starbucks menu, the “It Frappuccino” is still a massive hit. Made with a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino base and topped with strawberry puree, the finished product is a perfect match for Pennywise’s signature sinister colour scheme.

As an unofficial item, getting your hands on one is not simply a matter of wandering into a Starbucks and asking for an It Frappuccino. Fortunately, helpful employees have left hints and tips for how to order online. As one barista explained:

“I got to make a couple #itfrappuccino today at my #starbucks!!! Pictured first is my last attempt with a much better depiction of #Pennywise than my first attempt (pictured last). I loooove drawing him so I had to add him for the full effect!!! **PLEASE DO NOT ORDER THIS AS THE IT FRAPPUCCINO, your barista will likely NOT know what that is. Order a Vanilla bean frappuccino with strawberry purée on top!”

Other stores have included signs advertising the “It Frappuccino”, while the hashtag “itfrappuccino” has already appeared over 100 times on Instagram. It might not necessarily be conventional, but the clown-coloured coffee is definitely having an impact.
